Invitation Etiquette For A 50th Anniversary
The celebration of a 50th anniversary is a very special occasion and calls for a different type of invitation etiquette. Invitations should be sent to close relatives and friends. For others, an invitation can be given as a newspaper announcement, along with a photo of the couple. Plan the celebration as an open house, rather than a party.

Stock Invitations For A 50th Anniversary
The 50th anniversary is gold, so look for stock invitations that are printed on gold card stock. Encourage people to bring cards only. If the celebration is an open house, there is no need to include a R.S.V.P.

Guest of Honor
When planning a 50th anniversary celebration, keep in mind the physical needs of the honored couple. Will they prefer an afternoon open house or a night time one? Are there particular foods that shouldn't be served? Will one or the other need to be sitting down for the majority of the time? This is their special day, so keeping them comfortable is important.

Goodie Bags For A 50th Anniversary
Assuming that gold is being used in the decorations, party favors, etc. for a 50th anniversary celebration, use gold for the goodie bags as well. An easy, yet thoughtful idea, is to purchase gold latex balloons with either "Happy 50th Anniversary" or the couple's name printed on them. A couple of hours prior to the start of the celebration, use a helium machine to blow up the balloons. Tie with gold ribbon. Tie each balloon to a golden pear or fruit. Place the fruit in a basket near the door. As people leave, they can take one with them.

Thank You Notes
Thank you notes only need to be written to guests who gave gifts. If the honored couple so chooses, a thank you can be put in the newspaper for cards, best wishes, etc.

When planning a 50th Wedding Anniversary, you can send out formal printed invitations, postcards invitations or print your own on your computer. Don't opt for email invitations, its considered socially tacky and there are a lot of seniors who don't have email.
